S. 3230—The Bill Making Appropriations for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Related Agencies for the Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2009

On July 8, 2008, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) introduced S. 3230, the Bill Making Appropriations for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Related Agencies for the Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2009, and for Other Purposes. The Draft bill for FY2009, which includes funding for NIH. The measure has a $153.1 billion discretionary spending allocation, an increase of $7.9 billion over the President's budget and $8 billion over current funding. This bill includes an increase of $1.025 billion for NIH, for a total of $30,254,524,000 for the agency. The bill was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

COMMITTEE/SUBCOMMITTEE ACTION

June 24, 2008 - The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, Education marked up it draft bill for FY2009, which includes funding for NIH.

            - The Senate Appropriations Committee reported out S. 3230.
