TB Hearing

The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, and Education (Senator Tom Harkin [D-IA], Chairman) held a hearing entitled “Cracks in the System - An Examination of One TB Patient's International Public Health Threat.” Witnesses include Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, Director, NIAID; Dr. Julie Gerberding, Director, CDC; and Deborah J. Spero, Assistant Commissioner, Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security. Also participating were Dr. Nils Daulaire, President and CEO, Global Health Council; Dr. Steven Katkowsky, District Health Office Director, Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness; and Mr. Andrew Speaker, Attorney and TB patient, via phone.
