Senator Specter Holds Hearing on Stem Cell Research

On May 22, 2003, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, and Education (Senator Arlen Specter [R-PA], Chairman) held a hearing on the status of research on embryonic stem cells. Dr. Elias Zerhouni, Director of NIH, and Dr. Ronald McKay, Senior Investigator, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, testified. Dr. James Battey, Director of the National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, accompanied Dr. Zerhouni.
