Summary: Representative Burton Holds Hearing on Autism

On June 19, 2002, the House Committee on Government Reform (Dan Burton [R-IN]) held a hearing entitled, “The Status of Research into Vaccine Safety and Autism.” Roger Bernier, Associate Director for Science, CDC, testified for the Department and was accompanied by Stephen Foote, Director, Division of Neuroscience and Basic Behavioral Science, NIMH, and William Egan, Deputy Director, Office of Vaccines Research and Review, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Review, FDA. Frank DeStefano, CDC, also attended to address relevant questions.
