Summary: House Government Reform Committee Holds Hearing on Autism

On April 18, 2002, the House Committee on Government Reform held a hearing entitled, “The Autism Epidemic—Is the NIH and CDC Response Adequate?” Stephen Foote, Director, Division of Neuroscience and Basic Behavioral Science, NIMH, testified. Dr. Foote was accompanied by Anne Willoughby, Director, Center for Research for Mothers and Children, NICHD. In addition, Coleen Boyle, National Center on Birth Defects and Development Disabilities, CDC, testified.
