Summary: House Appropriations Subcommittee Holds FY 2003 Budget Theme Hearing

On April 9, 2002, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, and Education (Representative Ralph Regula [R-OH], Chairman) held the third in a series of theme hearings as part of its review of the FY 2003 NIH budget hearings. This hearing was entitled, “Collaborations in Research.” NIH witnesses were Ruth Kirschstein, Acting Director of NIH; Stephen Katz, Director of NIAMS; Duane Alexander, Director of NICHD; Donna Dean, Acting Director of NIBIB; Gerlad Keusch, Director of FIC; John Ruffin, Director of NCMHD; and Stephen Straus, Director of NCCAM.
