Session II - P.L. 107-250 The Medical Device User Fee and Modernization Act of 2002

On October 26, 2002, the President signed into law H.R. 5651, the Medical Device User Fee and Modernization Act of 2002, as P.L. 107-250. This legislation amends the Public Health Service Act to authorize the Director of NIH to conduct or support research to examine the long-term health implications of silicone breast implants. This authorization includes studies to 1) develop and examine techniques to measure concentrations of silicone in body fluids and tissues , and 2) track silicone breast implant recipients.
